Round #2 Pink eye

2nd day of school and Jacob is absent! His pink eye has either returned or he got reinfected! I cannot even comment about this because I am sooo frustrated! Today is disinfecting day...again...and I am washing all the towels and pillows and bedding in hot water...sounds fun. I am at the end of my rope and wish it would just GO AWAY! I mean really enough already!

1st Day of School

I wish I could say this was a fun morning. It wasn't! Arguements galore about clothing...getting up and dressed...what to eat...and forms for teachers...lets not forget the lunch money meltdowns...and what time the bus comes freakouts. My pictures stink but hey so did the morning! What do you want from me!!!! I am glad the first day is over...I wish I could say the 2nd day has gone smoother but it didn't. I hope this isn't an omen of the school year!

Southeast 26 - Windham 20

Here are some pictures of the game...well not exactly action shots. It is very hard to take the pictures from the bleachers. Jacob had a great game. He played the whole time offense and defense. He is pretty pooped tonight. He couldn't practice all week because of the pink eye. Hopefully this early win will help in the motivation department!

Pink Eye Victim #4

Here is Victim #4...Douglas! We are on a Tuesday / Saturday Rotation...Julie on Tues/ Curt on Sat / Jacob on Tues/ now Dougie on Sat/ who will be next? Hopefully we will end it here! Maggie is growing more and more paranoid...and Steve wants to stay at the hospital...Chickens!!! :)

2nd Place Picture

My swarming bee picture took second place at the Randolf Fair. It was fun entering my pictures and I was happy to get my first fair ribbon...Maybe now I will finally be fully excepted into the family. :) I was a bit envious of the big purple 1st place ribbon...oh well that is why people are hooked on the fair I guess...:)

Pink eye Victim #3

Jacob is just showing signs today. Gooopy yuck and swelling...a bit of redness. Going to get more antibiotic eye drops tonight...Hopefully it will end with him...School starts next week. I would hate to have someone miss out on the first day of school.

Court of Honor

Here are some pictures of Jacob's court of Honor at scouts. He received his Totin' chip, Tenderfoot and 2nd class. For any of you that know what those are...:) He is working on 1st class and he only has to do the swimming part to finish that rank. Dougie's cub scout court of honor is on Wed. night. More pictures to come...

Pink Eye Victim #2

Poor Curt Man woke up with pink eye on Saturday Morning...Who's next...stay tuned...

Football Scrimage

First Scrimage of the season. Jacob is the one with the white arm pads on...so you can tell who he is...I am glad he wears them or I wouldn't know who he is at all on the field. Now in the last picture Jacob is the one with his hands up on the guys shoulder pads and the other guy looks like he is strangling him. Now I ask you...(all loving mothers who receive this blog) doesn't this "Boy" from the purple team look much bigger than the rest of the kids? I mean come on he was HUGE...and why is it always my kid who has to line up with the obnoxiously weird mutant child who is 3 times bigger than all other sixth graders? Is it only me?

Barn and Butterflies

Sorry if you are getting sick of butterflies and such...I will try and take more pictures of something else. Jacob has a football scrimage on Sat. Also a court of honor tonight. I won't be there because Dougie has a birthday party to attend...so I don't know if I will get Steve to take any pictures. Just an update on my pink eye...It looks much better with a few days of antibiotics. Yeah. People are starting to get all excited about the fair. Ohhhhh Boy! It is the greatest thing since sliced bread ya know. We have designated Wed as Dooms day....I mean the day we take the kids to the fair. Let the weeping and wailing commence. I might take pictures at the fair...although I may wish not to document such an occasion as I might wish to erase it from my memory. :)
Oh do you think the barn might need new siding? Although the sunlight makes for a cool picture.

Looking Good!!!

If you were a doctor would you give me pink eye medicine? My eyes actually look good in this picture. This is after a shower so I could unstick them. One eye is worse and the other eye just started late yesterday. I really look happy...:) The picture really doesn't show the pink...but my eyes are red. Yes mom I am wiping down the keyboard and mouse when I am done on the computer...:) Love ya,

Julie

Helping with the corn!

Here is Curtis helping shuck the corn. He loves to help in the garden. He seems to have the spirit of a hard worker. He likes the one on one attention so he can talk your ear off without having to shout over everyone else. He has gone 90% of the summer without shoes...much to my dismay...hopefully he won't find any of the million bees on the property. But so far he has just had really dirty feet. This is his last school year home with mom. I am depressed about that. Preschool didn't work out this year. He got accepted and then they let us know it would be $95 a month for 2 days a week. Soooo...I could take some of that money and go to the gym again...where he gets interaction with kids his age for free...and also get the older three piano lessons...and take Curtis to Storytime at the library and do some basics with him at home...So that is what I am going to do. Sounds like more fun to me than trying to get another grumpy bear out of bed for the school bus...Definately more fun!

Working on putting up beans for the winter time. These are some of the yellow beans. We have done bunches of green beans and some cool looking purple beans. Corn is coming in and is soooo yummy. We had some for lunch.

Hoppy Toads?

Add more "pets" to our list. Now we have a bunch of "hoppy toads" as the kids call them. I am not sure if it is a toad or a frog...Help me out! But they look to be little babies...we see some bigger ones and then lots of little ones. Someone email me if this is some kind of posionious frog! I also saw a snake in the grass by the barn...so I don't know how long the "hoppy toads" will be around. The Circle of Life is in full swing...what eats snakes?

The First Ripe Tomato

Here is the first ripe tomato from the garden. We have been harping on the kids soooo much about trying new foods and the fact that you have to retry them again and again...sometimes you just need time to get used to something new. Well Steve has a LONG history of hating tomatoes. When we met he wouldn't even eat pizza with too much sauce. Well he can stomach tomato sauce now if it isn't chunky...Well he tried again with a raw tomato...(my favorite) Here is the sequence of pictures...I love the look on his face...He couldn't spit it out because the kids get in trouble for that...but boy did he want to. We all laughed so hard. I don't think tomatoes will ever be something he will like.

A Message from Julie's Oven

It is soooo amazing that I had to take a picture of myself. I am being used to capacity. It was sooo much fun! In the past I have only been used to reheat stuff and make frozen pizzas. NO MORE! I am finally realizing my full potential. I feel Great! I made two loaves of banana/blueberry bread, two loaves of zucchini bread, and three...count them three...zucchini in a dish dinners. It was the best hour at 350 degrees of my life. Maybe just maybe I will get sooo dirty that I will have to self clean ! Ohhh I can't wait!

Back yard pics

The smallest humming bird...(I think) that I have ever seen. It is just about as big as a big bumble bee. Fast and cool to watch. I put my camera on the sports setting otherwise it was too blurry. Oh yeah and a cool Monarch butterfly. He just happened by when I was trying to catch the hummingbird.

Blood and Guts or Picking Cherries?

Here are the kids...picking cherries off the cherry tree. Some were very ripe and they were squeezing them and watching them pop! It looks rather gory, but it was just some delicious fun!

See you later!
